Beach Proposal Painting
11" x 14"
Carolyn K., a lady that I've had the pleasure of chatting with a few times and getting to know recently, had the neat idea to have a painting done from a snapshot of her grandson proposing to his girlfriend, now fiance. They were on a trip to South Padre Island, Texas where he asked for her hand in marriage.
I made sure it was okay with Carolyn to adjust the layout and colors, and just take some artistic license with it in general. She was happy to give free reign so I got started.
Carolyn had mentioned tucking a seashell in somewhere and, thanks to my mom the trivia queen, I knew that the state seashell of Texas is the lightning whelk. I had to look it up to make sure I knew what it looked like though. Good thing I checked first because I had been picturing a conch shell.
It's a tiny detail that I enjoyed adding.
Carolyn has picked up the original as well as a small print for herself and taken them to be matted and framed. We've placed the prints on my web store along with a coffee mug and tote bag so their family and friends can also get a keepsake if they like.
